| BUSH - KERRY DEBATE 9/30/04 The debate provides an interesting insight to Senator Kerry’s view of the world and the Iraq war. The two men have extreme differences on the Iraq situation with Senator Kerry saying this is the “Wrong War at the Wrong Time”. The Senator also is calling the President a liar. I believe that Senator Kerry did a good job at presenting his views. His presentation and bearing were also very good and it shows that he defiantly practiced his delivery. What I am concerned about is what he said, not how he said it. Senator Kerry voted for the war and in the beginning he supported our troops and actions. Now he is against the war and is hammering the President on his performance. I believe that Kerry has made a big mistake and it is going to cost him the election. He is telling the young men and women in our military that what they are doing is a mistake. At the same time he is saying we will not pull out of Iraq and will finish the job, If he truly believed the war is a mistake and is wrong, then why would he keep our troops there? He is saying to these people that their sacrifice is basically for nothing and is willing to let them suffer injury and possible death for a cause he does not believe in. At least Governor Dean said he was against the war and would immediately pull out. Kerry is simply playing politics with this situation. He is pandering to the anti-war side of his party but in saying he would stay and finish the job, he is admitting it is necessary to be there. The other thing that concerns me is that Kerry is consistently saying that he would bring in more allies into the Iraq theater to take up more of the burden. My question is who are these allies? No country in the world has a military that is strong enough and big enough to do the job. He also keeps touting the United Nations. Let’s see, in Baghdad the U.N. headquarters was bombed and they all hauled out of there. In Rwanda there were over a million people killed and the U.N. did nothing. Right now, in the Sudan, the fanatic Arab Muslims are killing thousands of people and again the U.N. is doing nothing. I will say that when U.N. ran the Oil for Food Program in Iraq, with Saddam and his killer sons, the U.N. leaders were able to steal millions of dollars and kept Saddam flush with cash to buy weapons. The U.N. is non-effective and too corrupt to do anything. By anyone’s account, the President is not a polished speaker but his message is brutally clear. He will fight terrorist wherever they are and he will not waiver. On the same day as the debate there was a celebration in an area of Baghdad where a wastewater treatment plant was reopened. The local people were happy because now they did not have to live in an area seeped in raw sewage. This is something we take for granted in the U.S. and is not an earth-shattering event by any means. These are people happy to have their toilets and drains working again. A group of kids were there with their parents and they went over to a group of U.S. soldiers to get some candy. A terrorist drove a car bomb into the group, killing almost forty children. Are Kerry and his U.N. buddies going to have a summit with these type of people? President Bush knows the true evil of these terrorists and is not going to let his decisions be based on political rethoroic. Think about 9/11 and the people who died on that day. The terrorists target the innocent and the weak. They kill without any remorse and will not stop. In Russia, fanatic Muslim terrorist also killed hundreds of children. The terrorists have changed their tactics and are now going after children. Soon they will start cutting off the heads of kids and showing the films on the Internet. They have now forfeited their membership in the human race and need to be exterminated like the cockroaches they are. No discussion, no excuses and no bullshit. Bush or Kerry? Both men have their good and bad points but to me I would rather follow a leader that sticks to his beliefs. Kerry has demonstrated his willingness to say and do anything as long as it is good for John Kerry. The laundry list of Kerry actions for Kerry is a long one. His going after rich women, throwing other men’s medals, lying to congress about what he saw in Vietnam, changing positions on the war, voting record, sealing his medical records, bringing a movie camera to Vietnam and much more. Something about Kerry just strikes me wrong. Not because he is a Democrat or a liberal but because I think the man would let our troops and people die if it served to further John Kerry’s career. | A few other things bother me. Kerry wants to increase the Army by two divisions and double the size of the Special Forces. How is he going to convince young people to join and fight in a war he does not believe in? In addition, what is he going to say to the foreign leaders he wants to get help from. “Hey, here is a war I think is wrong and we should not be there. Why don’t you send in troops so mine can come home.” That’s some leadership and one hell of a great plan! |
