I like the way Mel paints his face blue, and the epic battles are great. The ending when he yells “FREEDOM” is very moving... oops, wrong movie, sorry. I did not see the P.O.C. but, I will review it anyway because I know how it ends. It’s not in English. The hell is up with that? When I go to a movie, I don’t want to work to have to enjoy the show. If I wanted to read, I’d pick up a book! Anyway, there is a lot of controversy about this movie. I guess the Jews are portrayed in a somewhat bad light and there is a lot of gore and violence. Sure, the Jewish religious leaders were upset with Jesus moving in on them but for God’s sake, it was the Romans that nailed the SON OF GOD to a tree.. If they knew who he was, I am sure they would have been a tad more leniant. The violence of the act of crucifying someone should not surprise you. The Romans conquered the entire known world and made people their slaves. P. Pilate is shown to be somewhat of a concerned, and benevolent governor, just bending to the will of the people. Hey, Pilate was a murderous asshole that had to be a hardcore S.O.B. You did not become a governor of a conquered land by being nice. Hell, the Romans even took over England and Ireland. That's why I, of Irish ancestry, have dark hair and eyes. There must have been a Roman in the woodpile of the old family tree. I hate the Romans and we should demand repiration.
Possibly one of the Top Ten Greatest Movies of all time.

In 1879 the British outpost of Rorke's Drift was attacked by over 5,000+ Zulu warriors. The British defenders numbered about 104 fit to fight. They staged a brilliant defense, and were able to hold off the Zulu waves. At the time of the battle the guns they used were single shot rifles. The Zulus used a short stabbing spear and a type of war club (not really shown in the flick) as their primary weapons. The Zulus were a formidable foe but the British held out. More Victorian Crosses were awarded (11) for that battle than any single action before or after. This is a movie all can enjoy. (also there are a bunch of topless native chicks in the begining) Can you say "Re-make".
Overall a good flick. The special effects are good and there is even a gratuitous boob shot. A few things bothered me. One is that Jack and Rose caused the wreck. They were making out on the poop deck and the lookouts were checking them out and missed an iceberg that was the size of New Jersey. The other thing was the old woman (Rose) throwing the diamond into the ocean, dooming her grandchildren to a life in trailor parks. If I saw her do that, I would have hit her with a wrench and flung her overboard to meet her dead-ass lover.
A lame piece of crap. It proves that Sophia Coppola not only can’t act, (see God Father 3) but can’t write. I guess even with talented parent’s, kids can still be morons. I bought this movie because I thought it had to be good and the wife was fed up with Zulu. I was wrong but not about her being fed up with Zulu. We did not get more than 1/2 way through it before we turned it off. We only watched that much because we thought it had to get better. Maybe someone's head exploded at the end, and that's why it won some awards.
